Acupuncture in horses alleviates soft tissue pain, whether it is primary muscle pain or secondary compensations due to musculoskeletal injury. It can be used to complement or replace physiotherapy or medication. Conditions that respond well to acupuncture include back pain, muscle tears or strains, and generalised muscle soreness after injury or laminitis. Acupuncture can be particularly useful in managing sports horses, as treatments can be given very close to competition.
Nancy Homewood is trained in veterinary acupuncture, and is available for consultations both at the surgery and at home. If you would like to find out more please phone Nancy at the practice on 01608 730085.
If you’re worried about your horse and would like to speak to one of our vets then please call your nearest branch or send an email.
