Laser sarcoid removal performed by Tom Righton HNVG Director, BVSc, MRCVS.
Our Class IV lasers can also be used for therapy as well as for surgery. Laser therapy has a wide range of applications through its photobiomodulatory effects on cells and tissues. Applications for laser therapy include:-
> Pain relief – laser therapy slows sensory nerve conduction and so reduces the perception of pain. Acute and chronic conditions both respond well to laser treatment, and the equine vets can often be found lasering the latest injuries in the clinic.
> Increased circulation – improved blood supply to the treated area, speeding up wound healing and resolution of inflammation.
> Enhanced wound healing – wounds treated with lasers contract (shrink) faster and re-epithelialise (grow new skin) faster than untreated wounds.
If you’re worried about your horse and would like to speak to one of our vets then please call your nearest branch or send an email.
