Extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) or ‘Shockwave’ therapy.
Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment and uses a high-energy sound wave created outside the body and transferred to a specific area within the body. It is very useful alongside the treatment of many ligament injuries and back pain, helping to stimulate healing and reduce pain.
The energy waves travel easily through the skin into deeper structures within the body, where they can stimulate healing.
We routinely use shockwave therapy for:
• Suspensory ligament injuries
• Collateral ligament injuries
• Navicular Syndrome
• Sacro-iliac injuries
• Kissing spine and back pain
• Splints
• Angular limb deformities in foals
Our shockwave machine is portable, meaning treatment can be given on your yard or at our equine clinic.
If you’re worried about your horse and would like to speak to one of our vets then please call your nearest branch or send an email.
